Ministries : Celebrate Recovery

“… I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger from Satan to torment me and keep me from getting proud. Three different times I begged the Lord to take it away. Each time he said, ‘My gracious favor is all you need. My power works best in your weakness.’ So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may work through me. Since I know it is all for Christ’s good, I am quite content with my weaknesses and with insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong."  (II Corinthians 12:7-10)

Jesus lived a perfect life that was sinless and pleasing to God, but not one among us can make that claim. God doesn’t waste a “hurt,” and He wants to use our failures and imperfections for good - our weaknesses are, after all, some of the greatest tools in His top drawer.

When many people hear of Celebrate Recovery, their thoughts tend to go in one of two directions: “My sin isn’t so bad; I’m not one of those people.” Or, “My sin is so bad I couldn’t possibly take it into the church and talk about it!” We welcome you both! And if you and God have conquered an addiction or hurt, please join us in encouraging others who are still engaged in the battle.

Celebrate Recovery (CR) at The Branch is a close-knit, low-key, non-judgmental group of believers who lift each other up as we travel life’s hills and valleys together. Some of us struggle with the big-ticket problems like substance abuse, sexual sin, or depression. Others of us struggle with problems that sound small, but hurt just as much. As we begin 2009, nearly all of us are carrying a cross of economic fear - and fear is one of the enemy’s favorite means of destroying us. You don’t have to be one of “those people” to be a struggler. And your troubles don’t have to have a really ugly label to hurt.
